Man

Please join us in welcoming Joshua Loeffler to the Chatham Central School District. Mr. Loeffler is our new supervisor of transportation who will oversee the staffing, operations, and maintenance of our transportation department. He was previously the head bus driver for the Averill Park Central School District, where he performed supervisory duties and conducted training of transportation staff. Prior to that, he worked as a dispatcher for Michael S. Johnston LLC, a busing company that provides contract services for public and private schools in Columbia County.

“I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career being here,” Loeffler said. “Safety is the key word when it comes to transportation and I welcome the opportunity to work with the men and women of Chatham to ensure our students arrive here and return home safely every day.”

Loeffler holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is certified as a bus driver examiner, bus driver instructor, and CPR/first aid instructor. He is also very familiar with the ins and outs of our area, having worked as an EMT-I for the Chatham and Greenport rescue squads prior to his career in transportation.

He resides in Livingston with his wife Christen, three cats, and their dog. In his free time, he enjoys working on antique farm tractors and is currently restoring a 1954 Ford Jubilee. Loeffler is also a bit of a weather buff; he studied meteorology in college and now serves as a weather spotter for the National Weather Service.

The Board of Education appointed Loeffler in July to replace outgoing supervisor of transportation Steve Oleynek, who retires at the end of the month.
