three boys wearing Herrington's Lumber hats

The boys in Ms. Thorsen and Ms. Chelsea's CMS Life Skills class have a full schedule. Every day between 8:00-10:00 a.m. they are out and about.

On Mondays, they run miscellaneous errands in the community (post office, restocking The Perky Panthers store, classroom pet care needs).

On Tuesdays the boys are at Chatham Public Library, where they put books back on the shelves, tidy up, and retrieve books and media from the dropbox.  They also each get to check out a book of their choice for the week.

On Wednesdays, it's grocery shopping and food prep for Thursday's Perky Panthers breakfast.

On Thursdays they run The Perky Panther Cafe at CMS, where they make breakfast for staff. They also do mail sorting, fill ice bags for the nurse's office, recycling collection, and mail delivery around the school.

On Fridays they are at Herrington's in Chatham, where you can find them fronting the shelves, replacing price stickers, organizing, and tidying up.

On top of all this, they have their daily adapted physical education class (APE) with Ms. Fisher.  When it is nice out, they log their miles walking to the fairgrounds or through town.  When it rains, they have APE inside.

And this week they also enjoyed a class visit from a community member, stylist Chris Welch, who came in in to talk about her career. She even gave one of our students a haircut!
