Meet Chatham Central School District’s new school resource deputy (SRD), Timothy Roberts, who joined our District this September. Deputy Roberts is a five-year veteran with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office who has completed specialized SRD training and also serves on the Sheriff’s Marine Patrol. During his law enforcement career, he also spent two years with the Greenport Police Department. He’s a 2016 graduate of Taconic Hills High School and earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from Columbia-Greene Community College.
“I am here to assist the District with overall school safety and security, and give back to the school in any way I can,” Deputy Roberts said. “I want to make sure the kids get to school, stay safe throughout the day, and get home safe at the end of the day.”
In his personal life, he’s a husband, father of two young daughters, and a volunteer firefighter with the Copake Fire Department. He enjoys sports, especially football, and describes himself as a “big animal person” - along with two dogs and a cat, he and his family enjoy having a pony, a few cows, and a flock of chickens at home.
We are pleased to have Deputy Roberts on our campus throughout the school day, five days a week. Please join us in welcoming him to Chatham!
