Dear Chatham Families,

I wanted to make you aware that at 10:54 a.m. today I called a precautionary secure lockout for all CCSD buildings due to an individual who was experiencing a mental health crisis on Woodbridge Ave.  Authorities quickly arrived and assisted the individual, who did not pose a threat to our schools. The secure lockout lasted for approximately 10 minutes.

Please note that a secure lockout is not a lockdown. It is a precautionary safety measure where we bring outside activities inside and limit entry of visitors into the building, but otherwise the school day continues as usual. As always, we take any such measure with the safety and security of everyone on our campus in mind.

Sincerely,

Andrew Kourt
Superintendent of Schools
