The NY Yankees invited our varsity baseball team to celebrate the Panthers' third consecutive NYS championship at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx. They Yankees honored our team with a ceremony on the field before the August 8 game against the LA Angels. The Panthers are the only baseball team in Section 2 history to win three state titles back to back, with a 76-7 record during the span of those three seasons.
"Good evening … ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Yankee Stadium. Tonight, the Yankees would like to congratulate the 2024 NYSPHSAA Class C Baseball Champions – Chatham Panthers from Chatham, NY. With a season record of 24 - 4, the Panthers secured their third consecutive Class C New York State title. This is a New York State Section 2 record. In post-season play, the team posted a .335 batting average and outscored their opponents 82 to 25 in their 8 sectional, regional and state games. During the last three state title runs, the Panthers record is 76-7. Chatham defeated the Burke Catholic Eagles by the score of 11-5 in the state championship game. Please direct your attention now to the area behind home plate as we welcome the team to Yankee Stadium. The Panthers are led by Head Coach Scott Steltz and Assistant coaches, Dan Doyle, Joe Williams, Jordan McComb, Kyle Wilber and Chris Kelly.
